WhatsApp has been evolving its Channels feature significantly since its debut on the platform last year. The service, owned by Meta, is continuously enhancing functionality, with the latest addition currently in testing. Users can now effortlessly share, view, and follow Channels through a QR code within the app. This feature is presently available for testing on the latest WhatsApp beta versions for both iOS and Android, with a broader rollout anticipated in the future.
Additionally, the new QR code sharing option allows for exporting to other applications. This innovative capability was identified by a feature tracker in the most recent WhatsApp updates for both iOS and Android. Those who are beta testers and have upgraded to specific versions of the app may gain access to this functionality.
Users with the QR code feature enabled can access their Channel information section and choose sharing options to generate a QR code. Once the application creates a code, it can be shared with other users on WhatsApp or alternative messaging platforms. Since the QR code is provided as an image, it can easily be shared using third-party applications, sent via email, or even printed out. This feature could be particularly beneficial for companies aiming to streamline the procedure for customers to follow their channels.
It remains uncertain when the QR code sharing ability will be implemented for users on the stable version of the app. WhatsApp is also exploring other exciting enhancements, including the option to share complete sticker packs, a 'Search on the web' image recognition feature, and improved contact management across devices. These forthcoming features are expected to be available to users following thorough testing during the beta phase.
