Ubisoft Rumored to be Creating a Remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

In an industry that constantly evolves, a decade seems sufficient for a game to transition into a classic, as suggested by the rumored remake of the 2013's Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. According to a report from Kotaku, Ubisoft may be in the initial stages of remaking this esteemed entry of the franchise, placing it next to The Last Of Us Part 1 as another potential remake from the same year.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is fondly remembered by many fans for transporting the series' signature stealth action to the high seas. The game offered players the exhilarating experience of being a pirate, allowing them to customize their crew and ship, sink rival fleets, and hunt for treasure. Ubisoft Singapore, which has been involved in nearly all Assassin's Creed games, is reportedly playing a significant role in the remake's development.

This involvement is logical since Ubisoft Singapore is also the lead developer on Skull & Bones, an upcoming pirate adventure game featuring naval combat akin to Black Flag. The team's expertise in ocean technology might be used to revamp Black Flag's sailing mechanics. Alternatively, the remake could be a strategy to recover some of the investment poured into Skull & Bones, which has experienced a prolonged development period.

Meanwhile, Skull & Bones, the live-service game, is set to hold a closed beta in August. However, concerns have been raised over the working conditions at Ubisoft Singapore, with Kotaku reporting that the team is being encouraged to work extended hours with limited opportunities to work from home.

At the moment, it's unclear whether the potential remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will incorporate the RPG elements introduced in later entries like Odyssey and Valhalla. However, given the original game's acclaim, fans will undoubtedly look forward to the return of their favorite swashbuckling adventure, albeit with a fresh coat of paint. Only time will tell if this classic can strike gold a second time.
