It appears Sony intends to hold off on launching new entries in its prominent franchises until at least after April of next year. During a recent financial discussion, the corporation outlined its future strategy. Although Sony has several games in progress, their debut is not expected until 2025 at the earliest.
"In terms of first-party titles, our goal remains to deliver high-quality content and expand our live service offerings," stated Sony Group President Hiroki Totoki, as translated by Gematsu. "However, we have no plans to introduce new titles from our major existing franchises in the next fiscal year, even though significant projects are in the pipeline."
It is worth mentioning that the lack of new installments from blockbuster series like God of War or The Last of Us until that time does not exclude the possibility of Sony releasing games from new intellectual properties or lesser-known series. Therefore, 2024 may not be entirely devoid of new games from Sony's first-party studios.
