EA has announced that the upcoming Sims 5 game, currently known under the codename Project Rene, will be free-to-play, confirming earlier leaks. The company has also disclosed it will not require a subscription or employ "energy mechanics." The game is anticipated to feature a marketplace for both user-generated and official content. EA said Project Rene will not initially have all features of Sims 4, but will add new elements over time. Paid content packs could include weather-inspired themes like a Winter Sports Pack. EA plans to keep updating Sims 4 and other Sims mobile games while releasing Sims 5. The latest update on Sims 4 includes the first Stuff Pack in over two years, called Home Chef Hustle, offering new ways to cook and earn money, in addition to new items and appliances. Further details are expected to be announced on the 14th of September.
