Avalanche Studios has announced a fresh wave of job cuts and the shuttering of two locations. During times of festivity regarding the evolving gaming sector, marked by notable events and major launches, it is unfortunate to acknowledge that 2024 has been an especially challenging year for the talented individuals who craft our cherished video games. Recent news confirms that another notable game developer is scaling back its team and shutting down operations at various international sites.

The studio behind popular titles like the Just Cause series, Mad Max, and Rage among others, disclosed on their official webpage the difficult news of ceasing operations at two out of their five global offices (situated in New York and Montreal), in addition to cutting down their worldwide staff by 9%, equating to 50 positions being eliminated. Choosing this path was an incredibly difficult decision, but we view it as an essential move to ensure a steady and flourishing future for our company," was conveyed in their statement.

With a heavy heart, they express their current priority of providing support to all affected employees during these trying moments. The organization expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the outgoing team members for their substantial input and reaffirmed its commitment to providing outstanding gaming experiences for its community.
